About The London Cello Society

The London Cello Society promotes the art of cello playing, preserving its great traditions while encouraging its continuing development. The Society exists for the benefit of young students, professional players and teachers, for amateur players and lovers of the cello and its repertoire.

As the ‘home’ for cellists in the United Kingdom, the Society has presented some of the most exciting cello events of the concert season. From film tributes to Pierre Fournier and Bernard Greenhouse to a celebration of the French Cello School, a Russian Spectacular, a memorial tribute to Mstislav Rostropovich, Cello Olympics and our recent Simply Strad, Beyond Cello and Two Cellos events, the Society welcomes artists, teachers and specialists who offer the very best in cello playing and teaching.

Our annual season also features educational events at major venues and cellist-composer celebrations, as well as a CelloDay for young students and a special events for adult learners. The Society’s bi-annual newsletter provides a means of staying in touch with cellists and cello events around Great Britain.
